Valentines, Bears/ Hibernation, and snow are all going away with this month. Also, in between we had our winter break too. It seemed to have been a quick month of learning, playing, and growing up. To see our boys in the beginning of the year and to see them now at the end of February is like amazing. They have GROWN UP!!!!!!
Our books have been Valentine Mice, The Bear Went Over the Mountain, and Dear Zoo. In math we have been working on identifying halves, identifying color patterns, and identifying positions. We are working/ writing simple addition problems. Our comprehension work with our theme books are amazing. We can answer any questions for our teacher. We can draw well too and we watch our teacher first and then copy what she wants us to do. Remember to stay home if you are sick. Also, please get these boys in bed early. Time is springing forward this Saturday. We will all be GRUMPY! Hello again to a not so cold winter. Our books and themes have been Snowman at Night and The Mitten. The children enjoyed having snowball fights, iceskating around the room, and playing with ice cubes /snow.
Our letters have been the letter R and G. Also, we have been learning in math about positional words(on, above, and below----top, middle, and bottom). We are still working on our Spanish words and we have started to incorporate SeeSaw on laptops. The boys are growing in leaps and bounds with communication, social play, and all areas of independance. Mrs. Walkley does not have to work so hard because they are doing many errands to keep our classroom tidy. Thank you for lending me your children this year. This is the BEST class that I have ever had ever. Welcome back students. I hope you all had an amazing holiday and break. I hope all have been safe these past couple of weeks.
We will all be back in our room on January 6, 2019. January is going to be great and we will begin with reviewing our rules and routines. I am sure you will all remember them well. Our theme will be around winter and snowmen. Our book will be Snowmen at Night and our letter will be D. Please dress warm because it is January. Also, please stay home if you are not feeling well. The flu season has come and you can get very sick. Any questions, please come and ask me. Looking to see my boys very soon. Mrs. Walkley The boys and I have been racing to see who can beat Mrs. Walkley. No one as yet can beat me. Our theme was the Gingerbread Man and our letter again was the letter G. We had a good time with running and eating some gingerbread toast with cinnamon. We have been working hard with the letter Gg and writing the letter. In math we are breaking whole numbers into 2 numbers to equal the number.
Our independence task was to clean up after lunch and wash our tables and to vacumn our crumbs up. We have been a great help in keeping our room nice and tidy. Remember that Early Release is next December19th and 20th. Students come back on January 6, 2020, Also, please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. Our germs are again in our room. OMG, OMG, OMG-It is December!! Where has the school year gone. Our boys have grown in leaps and bounds. The independence in all of them is awesome.
This week, we have reviewed all of our rules and routines because of our Thanksgiving break. The boys were great. They have remembered and did their best to get back in the groove of school and learning. Our theme book was Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our letter was G for Gorda Gorilla. We have reviewed the sound, written Gg's, and found words that begin with G. Ask them and they will tell you. In Math we are identifying whole numbers and making combinations of them using 2 parts or 2 numbers to make that whole number. Our next themes will focus on the season of winter. Any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. I will always have time to make for you. Have a great weekend. Mrs. Walkley Our days are rushing by too FAST. Where has November and Autumn gone. We have been busy with our theme books Mouse Mess, Bear Snores On, and The Little Old Lady that Swallowed a Pie. My boys liked Mouse Mess the best. One day we washed dirty dishes , rinsed them, and then dried them. They are learning house- keeping 101 and doing a great job.
In math we are using simple bar graphs, identifying inside/ outside and looking at attributes of cues/ spheres. We are also learning Abb, and Ab patterninng. Our comprehension and sight word are coming along too. We have learned the words I, a, am, little, and the. After all of our work with our AAO books, I am hearing my friends talk in 3-4 word sentances to express themselves in daily life. This accomplishment makes me extremely HAPPY. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. It is a time to be thankful for what we have been given. Thank you for giving me your children this year. I am enjoying all of my boys. Happy Thanksgiving and on to December. Enjoy your break next week too. Mrs. Walkley Hello again from Mrs. Walkley and our boys at school. We have had an amazing month and how we are growing in our classroom. I have the greatest children in all my years in SNP.
First of all...our books were around feelings. We have done Skeleton Hiccups, The little Old Lady that was not Afraid of Anything, and Go Away Big Green Monster. They were all favorites. Our letters were U, V, and lower case alphabet. We are writing them well, know vocabulary that these letters make and know our sounds now that the letters make. In math we are learning all of our shapes and are able to trace them with stencils. We are working on AB patterning and also AAB patterning. We can recite our days of the week and monthes of the year in both English and SPANISH. Yes Spanish and Mrs. Walkley is learning this along with us. Best of all is lunchtime. Mrs. Walkley sets up our trays. We need to get them to our seats and then we are able to eat and then CLEAN up after ourselves. We are also helping our little friends who cannot do this chore. We are delivering their water and lunch to them now. Best surprise of all is during Academic Readiness now.We are working so hard on comprehension. Also, Mrs. Walkley got a sight word list from Kindergarten. Our words are I, a, little, and am this week. Thank you for being such great parents and I enjoy all of you!!!! Kathleen Walkley Wecome back to our class notes this week. We have been so busy the past 2 weeks on our transportation unit. The boys have really enjoyed this unit more than any other this year. Our books have been Down by the Station by Jennifer Riggs Vetter and Old McDonaid had a truck by Steve Goetz. It is about all forms of vehicles: trains, planes ,hot-air balloons, excavators, bulldozers, ETC....We have played with them, watch movies about them, read books about them, even did a cooking activity with a stop light. Our boys can draw simple trucks and cars. Wait till you see our bulletin board.
Our letters have been the Letter E and the H. We are writing them and learning what words begin with them. In Math, we are learning about shapes. We are sorting them, cutting them out, and drawing them. Our big accomplishment is that the boys are playing and talking with one another. They are PLAYING TOGETHER!!!!! This makes their teacher very happy. Next week is conference week and I look forward to speaking with all of my parents. Thank you for giving me your children. Fall Break was from September 23-27. Hope all of our friends had a good time and tomorrow Monday, September 30, 2019, we are back and all are well rested!!!
